Pros of buying Ricoh Speedlite SL-301 Mirai:1. Compact and Lightweight: The SL-301 is a portable flash that is easy to carry around. Its lightweight design makes it suitable for travel photography or any situation where you need a flash but don't want to carry a bulky unit.
2. Wireless TTL and HSS: The SL-301 supports wireless TTL and High-Speed Sync (HSS), allowing you to control multiple flashes and achieve a balance of light in your scene. This feature is particularly useful in complex lighting setups.
3. Guide Number and Recycling Time: With a guide number of 36 (m/ISO 100), the SL-301 can illuminate subjects at a distance of up to 10 meters. Its quick recycling time of 2.5 seconds ensures that you can take multiple shots without waiting for the flash to recharge.
4. Auto and Manual Modes: The SL-301 offers both automatic and manual modes, giving you the flexibility to adjust your flash settings according to your needs.
5. Bounce and Swivel Functionality: The flash head can be tilted up to 90 degrees and rotated 270 degrees, allowing you to bounce light off ceilings or walls to create softer, more natural-looking light.
Cons of buying Ricoh Speedlite SL-301 Mirai:1. Limited Power: With a guide number of 36, the SL-301 may not have enough power for larger subjects or scenes with significant distance. If you need more lighting power, you may want to consider a more powerful flash.
2. No Built-In Radio Transmitter: The SL-301 requires a separate wireless transmitter to communicate with other SL-301 flashes. While this is not a deal-breaker, it can add to the overall cost of your setup.
3. No Tilt Lock: The SL-301's flash head does not have a tilt lock, which can be inconvenient if you're using the flash in a bounce setup.
Conclusion:The Ricoh Speedlite SL-301 Mirai is a solid choice for photographers who value portability and versatility. Its wireless TTL and HSS capabilities, along with its compact size and lightweight design, make it a great option for travel photography or any situation where you need a powerful, yet portable flash.
